NIHR Maudsley BRC to support new DREAMS centres in South East England

In its announcement about DREAMS, the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre sets out that it will support the addition of further centres across South East England, and open King's electronic health records research infrastructure to the project. DREAMS is the eight-year Wellcome-funded project led by Arman Eshaghi, who joins King's College London to establish the DREAMS Lab in the IoPPN's Department of Biostatistics & Health Informatics, working with 16 centres across four countries.

That support matters because DREAMS depends on breadth. The models learn from the MRI scans and clinical notes hospitals already hold, inside NHS and other secure data environments: records never leave the hospital, and only what the model has learned is shared. Every additional site makes the resulting tools more likely to work on the messy, varied scans that ordinary clinics actually produce — and for a wider range of people living with MS.
