PPI Expert Steering Committee Member

Terry is a member of the PPI Expert Steering Committee. He has many decades of experience in pharma industry, technology deployment and IT management. He is a patient advocate and has cared for MS for several decades. He acts as an NIHR reviewer and PPI advocate for NHS research projects. He has a strong interest in patients data, how it is used, safety and security and what is the best way in which patients can access data. This also includes the fact that at times certain information may need to be withheld for the patients own safety and well-being.

Trishna Bharadia BA(hons), MFPM(hon) is a highly experienced and multi-award winning health advocate and patient engagement consultant, who was diagnosed with MS in 2008. She also lives with several other long term conditions. Her experience in PPI involves working with multiple stakeholders (including industry, academia, patient organisations, clinicians) across the healthcare ecosystem and medicines development lifecycle, both in MS and many other health conditions. She has a particular interest in good patient engagement practice, diversity issues in healthcare, digital health technologies, patient involvement in scientific publications and medical information, and patient involvement in clinical and health research. She is an ambassador/patron for several health- and disability-related organisations, including MS Society UK, and is a long-standing committee member for Asian MS. She is also a visiting lecturer on Patient Engagement at the Centre for Pharmaceutical Medicine Research at King's College London. For two years she was the Patient Engagement Workstream Editor for the Drug Information Association (DIA) Global Forum magazine. She has also been a lead and co-author on various scientific publications, sits on several Advisory Panels and Editorial Boards for scientific publishers and is a long-time member of the MS Society's Research Network. She sits as a patient representative on the governance board of the MS Society's MS Centres of Excellence. Among her various accolades, Trishna was awarded honorary membership of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (Royal College of Physicians) in 2021 and was named a PharmaVoice 100 honoree (Disrupters category) in 2022, both in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the life sciences industry.

Helen is the Quality & Compliance Manager at FDQ, an Awarding Organisation providing qualifications and apprenticeships to the food and drink sector. Her freelance work includes technical writing and content projects. Helen completed a MA in Technical Communication and E-Learning in 2019; her dissertation explored whether technology and digital health information could empower people with MS to make better decisions about their healthcare. The dissertation sparked Helen’s interest in public patient involvement and she has since contributed to several education, assessment and information projects for the NIHR, health charities such as the MS Trust, and Health Education England. Helen was diagnosed with MS in 2002.
